Dave Matson has won the League for the second time in three years, with rounds to spare. He goes into the last match looking for one more win to seal the perfect 8 point (maximum) score (see series page for more details).
The Division One National Angling Team event came to Shropshire on August 19th. It's a who's who of Angling with teams from as far as Kent and North East attending the Match, and the club are delighted that our shared sections with Hodnet are to be used for the event.

Additional Peg work has been completed on Long Lane in recent work visits.
Macmilian Pairs is coming soon to Newport, the annual charity event is to be held on 29th July. Using both Audco and Honeysuckle sections £22 each pair, with £1 going to section winner. Event followed by presentation in the Pheasant Inn Newport, contact Bob Pritchard on 07531 780250 to book on.
The club have some planned work being carried out on Long Lane on Monday 22nd May (evening) for peg maintenance.
The Shropshire Union Canal is in fine fishing form, with two double figure wins in last two weeks (see match results) from Club waters with very good back up weights considering the cold weather.
New changes at the club, following Dave Jones stepping down from chairman, the club would like to welcome new chairman Dave Matson. Dave is a very experienced Angler and we wish him all the best with his duties.
The club AGM takes place on Tuesday 8th November at The Phez, Newport.

There is a charity pairs match being held on Parkers and Long Lane Pool on Saturday 29th October. This event is to raise funds for the Antony Nolan Cancer Trust for local Shropshire area, cost of entry is £30 per pair. Peg fees are £5 per person (donated to the trust).
