A club rule was confirmed at latest committee meeting for match Angling.   The rule is an Angler can fish upto half way between themselves and the next Angler. 

 

Long lane is still open to pleasure anglers, but it's been decided to refrain from matches on the venue for the next couple of matches.  Hopefully the water receeds soon and essential works can begin. 

 

Mar

 

The Silver match season is underway now with matchs on the Shroppy and Stirchley Top coming up in March. 

 

Long Lane is very much underwater due to the persistent rain we've had this winter, most of the pegs are under water.  If fishing the venue, please use extra caution. 

 

 

Jan / Feb

 

Club cards are now on sale across the normal outlets, no change in prices again.  That's 7+ years with no increases to our memebers fees! 

 

Tony Turner and Richard Cavey have joined the Audco committee and Tony "Whippet" Turner is also bailff on Long Lane pool effect February. Thanks both and welcome onboard the good ship Audco! 

 

 

December23 

 

The fur and feather is now on 16th December on S.U.C. 

 

Club cards are being printed and we hope they'll be ready soon for 2024. 

 

 

November

 

The series dates and venues have been released for 2024 (see series page for more details).  

 

The Falcoln Inn Pub has now re-opened at Hinstock for those interested. It's a community run pub now and is very near to Bearcroft Pool.  No food is yet being served, but warm drinks and beer / wine are on tap! 

 

October

 

The club are pleased to announce that we've taken on (subletting) more Shropy Union canal from Wyche Angling.  These stretches from 48 to 51. 

 

 

 

Aug / Sep 23

 

 

The club have agreed to sub-letting more of the shropshire union canal from October 23. We've signed an agreement with Wyche Angling Club to utilise the lengths from Oaktree through to Park heath.  More details to follow soon. 

 

 

 

July 23

 

The club have implemented an immediate ban on keepnets on the club waters for pleasure fishing.  This follows an outbreak of KHV in Telford (Leegomery Pools). Anyone who has fished on these pools needs to disinfect their tackle (landing net/ mats / nets etc) before fishing any other venue. 

 

June 23 

 

Work party on Bearcroft this month and also work carried out on fallen tree in Long Lane Pool.  Silver match for Stirchely canclled in July due to low numbers and holidays. 

 

May 23

 

Round 4 of the Audco league will take place on Sunday 21st May on Goldstone length of shropshire union canal. 

 

The MacMillan pairs will be held on Newport Canal and Honeysuckle canal on Saturday 27th May.

Apr 23

 

New Fish stocks have gone into Bearcroft Pool recenlty, with more Tench and some Crucians being added as part of regular stock improvement at the site. Matches are running most Wednesdays. 

 

The league has started again, this year 15 Anglers are involved in the competition, Ron Mullinder took the win on the first round which was held at Shropshire Union Canal (Goldstone). 

 

 

Mar 23

 

The MacMillian Annual match has now been moved (and will stay on) 27th May this year. Using Honeysuckle and our town centre stretches, book on with Bob Pritchard or committee member. 

 

Feb 23

 

The proposed silver match on 13th May has been cancelled due to the MacMillan match taking place at the same time. 

 

The clubs annual Series league is fully booked, with a waiting list should anyone drop out. 

 

 

January 23

 

The charity MacMillan annual Pairs match date has been arrange for Saturday 13th May 23, a date for the diary with peg fees raised going to the very worthy cause, plus donations.  Contact Bob Pritchard for more details with Newport Canal and Honeysuckle lengths likely to be used. 

 

Nov / Dec

 

There have been some changes to the club since the AGM. David Matson, is no longer chairman.  The club thank him for the work he's put in over the last few years and we wish him well.   Stuart Miles has stepped up from Vice Chair to Chairman and David Burton has become Vice Chairman. Bob Pritchard remains club secretary and Phil Bowen remains as treasurer. 

 

 

Sep/ Oct

 

The Silver Matches and Shropshire Union matches are now taking place in October with matches on the cut, Apley and Melverley Farm all taking place in October. 

 

Sept - Good work from committee and friends to clear lots of surface water of Bearcroft Pool, much weed was removed and cleared.  

September also saw the conclusion of the Audco league, Gerald took top spot this year a tighlty contested series it was too. 

 

Some of the lads had Tip vrs Pole match on Apley Pool Telford (5 aside teams) it was tight, with rod lads winning by just one point. Top 3 were: 

 

1) Gerald Large - 60lb (Rods team) 

2) Gerry Poweel - 39lb (Pole Team) 

3) Stu Miles - 37lb (Pole Team) 

 

Something different and interesting results. 

 

 

July / Aug

 

The Audco leage now enters it's final phase into August with 3 matches remaining to decide the winner in this years competition.  The club have also carried out further maintenance at Bearcroft and Long Lane pools. 

 

Also so far in 2022 two new committee members have been confirmed Mark Jones and Gordon Jones, thanks for your support and help guys and welcome! 

 

June 
 

June sees us remeber the late John Buttery, with the memoral match taking place on the Honeysuckle Canal in Newport on Saturday 18th June. In our thoughts John and fondly remembered.  The match has draw time of 9am fishing for 5 hours. 

 

 

 

May

 

New F1 Carp have been placed into Long Lane Pool, around 250 we're introduced this week.  If fishing matches these should be placed in Silvers net as they're small 4-6" fish, please also weigh separately from bigger Carp to avoid fish damage. 

 

The League is underway for 2022 with the next two rounds taking place in May.  Sunday 8th sees us on Birches Pool at Melverley Farm and we've been forced to change venue (from S.U.C) to Parkers Pool for the match on 22nd May. 

 

The silvers fish this month is on S.U.C (Saturday 14th May Draw 9am) on Hinstock Wood stretch. 

 

April 22

 

Thanks to all the guys who helped out on Long Lane peg works last Saturday. Pegs 1 -6 we're shored up.

 

April is also the month where mid week matches start, with a match on Long Lane Wednesday 6th draw 9am.  Please book on with Dave Matson.

The match fishing will be "springing" back into action this month, with matches planned most weekends at various venues, starting with Newport Canal on 5th March: 

 

12th - Shropshire Union - Likely Goldstone stretch 

16th - Mid-week match at Bearcroft Pool Hinstock 

19th - Newport Canal 

26th -  Silvers Match at Parkers Pool  Telford 

 

Feb 22

 

There is a canal match on 12th Feb on Goldstone Shropshire Union Canal, draw at 9am fish 10am -3pm. 

 

Also club are arraning essential maintenance at Long Lane Pool, this will take place, weather permitting on Saturday 5th March.

Match bookings are now listed in the 2022 card which are in stock at the normal outlets. 

 

Dec 21

 

The final Silvers match took place in December at Parkers and the annual Christmas Fayre match took place this year on the Shropshire Union Canal, no fewer than 19 Anglers turned out on this years Fur and Feather! 

 

2022 Club cards soon on sale in normal outlets, again the club are pleased to anounce no increase in fees they remain unchanged for 5 years in a row!
