Following the recent news of the sad loss of our club president and more recenlty our treasurer Mr John Buttery, we can confirm that a service will be held for John at the Telford Crematorium on Friday 28th September @ 12:30pm with the wake being held at the Swan at Forton afterwards. No flowers please, but donations are welcomed for Leukaemia research.
It is with great sadness that we report the loss of two inspritional Club legends this week. We heard about the loss of our cherished club president Mr Alan Smallman only two weeks back and no sooner that news was digested that we learnt of the sad passing of our good friend and club Treasurer, Mr John Buttery.
No words can explain the shock and grief felt at this time, both we're fundamental in the running of our beloved fishing club, and both dedicated much time to cause and will truly be very sadly missed. Their hardwork, passion and determination to help make Audco AC what is it today and give joy to many of our members can't be overstated.
Alan was a founder member of the club and his allegiance to Audco AC streches back to the 1950's. John was also at the helm of the committee for over 20 years, both guys were a credit to the sport as well as the club and we are proud to have worked and fished alongside such gentleman. We have many fond memories of our time spent fishing alongside them as well as working with them to make the club the best it could be, we hope to continue their great work and ensure their legacy remains.
Our hearts and sympathy go out to their familys at this very difficult time. The club will make further annoucements in due course.
The Audco Series is now entering the final few matches of the Summer. Dave Matson leads the way with 8 points (with worst 3 dropped), followed by Dave Jones 10 & Ron Mullinder 13:

McMillan nurses charity pairs open.
The Annual charity Pairs match was held on Saturday, using both the Audco and Honeysuckle stretches of Water. 12 Pairs of Anglers took part, rasing over £65 for the charity in the process. A massive thanks to all Anglers who took time to take part, the match organisers and Paul Quinn of The Phez in Newport for putting on after match refreshments and donating some good prizes.
Audco section was used for one set of pairs.
The Winners of the 2018 Macmillian match were Richard Cavey & Tony Tuner with 7 pts, runners up (on weight) with 8 points was Joe Duce & Pete Jones. Pete Lee was winner of the overall match (and Honeysuckle section with a fantastic 23lb) and Phil Bowen won the Audo stretch with 9lb 12 (see match results for further breakdown)

The Phez in Newport was used for the after match presentations. . .
Thanks to Paul Quinn at The Phez in Newport for aftermatch support as always!
The Newport Canal match scheduled for Saturday 5th May, has now been moved to Bearcroft Pool due to low water levels.
The first three rounds have taken place (Shrops Union Canal & Stirchely Top), next rounds are in May (see match fixtures). Not too late for members to join us though, so if you fancy fishing the remaining (or some of) 9 rounds then contact us to book on!
Don't forget your annual Rod Licenses, Due on the 1st April. Don't caught without one as the fines are bigger than any fish you could possibly hope to catch!
The Annual Audco League commences on Sunday 25th March at the Shropshire Union Canal, there are still a couple spaces for those who would like to participate in this years league, you don't have to commit to fishing all of the rounds either. We take the best 8 results from 11 matches to decide league positions at the end of the series (September), and each round will pay out as indiviual matches!
We like to wish all our members, their families and visitors to our webpage a very merry Christmas and a happy 2018!
An update from the Committee on the status of the Club.
2017 has been another very good year for the Club, enabling the club to yet again freeze card prices for the new season. The club is in good health both Financially and strong membership point of view.
We have the lease on Bearcroft Pool until July and it’s in the process of being put on the market for Sale, as were the incumbent tenant renting the water and have spent hundreds of pounds stocking the venue, we have submitted a bid into purchase the water. It remains to be seen as yet if this bid will be accepted and during this period of transition, no further stocking will take place. As a club this would be a good long-term acquisition and should we be successful, would help the long-term future of the club by having our own water. However, we do rely on the support of you the anglers and valued members, so would be looking at all options to help finance such a move. For future information on Bearcroft, please refer to the club website www.audcoac.co.uk
The Club have continued to reduce costs in some areas by sub-letting and water sharing with other clubs on the Shropshire Union Canal, whilst at the same time growing the number of fishable canal stretches available to you, this was a success in 2017 with some fantastic winter fishing on the canal had during the early part of the year.
The match scene has continued well this year, with many events including the league series which was again well attended by match anglers. All of which helps raise valuable funds for the club and enable funds to be reinvested in fish stocks and maintain waters we have.
The Club would also like to call on the help of members for support in water maintenance, this is a crucial area for any Angling Club, and one which we rely on volunteers. This has mainly, been by fellow committee members, but is one where more help is also appreciated and needed. We have invested in plenty of tools and waders for such work, these are available and are free for all members to use in Club water maintenance. If you have time and can help the club with maintain then we’d very much like to hear from you (contact a committee member or Club Bailiff to register interest). We also meet every first Thursday of the month at The Phez in Newport, so feel free to come along and join in.
We would like to once again thank all members for their continued support during 2017 and wish you all a very happy end to the year.
Look forward to seeing you out on the Bank in 2018!
Audoc AC Committee
The stocking policy at Bolas is paying dividends for pleasure Anglers. He had 12 fish between 4lb & 10lb 6 fish of around 1-3lb and a couple pound of silvers! Why not visit and have a day in the quietest most peacful venue on the card!
Team Ted Carter took the spoils on the National Team Division One Angling trust with 2 section wins and 389 points. Maver Midlands we're runners up on the day with 386 points. Individual winnner was Ed Warren with 9kg 180grms and he came from F section, our stretch of canal.
