Just a brief note to inform members that Wednedays match on Long Lane has been cancelled. The next match is due on Long Lane this Saturday (24th January) please book on with Bob or Stuart if you wish to fish this Silvers match.
A note to members that weather permitting there will be some maintenance taking place on Bearcroft pool on Saturday 17th from 10am until around noon. This will be for some branch and tree cutting. Lilkely to affect pegs around 5 through to possibly 10 (village hall side of pool).
The 2026 club cards are now on sale from regular outlets (Newport Sports, Oakengates Tackle). The membership runs from January to December and 2026 cards are now required to Fish. We're pleased to confirm no price increases on 2025. See Club Membership for more info.
Just a note to say Weds match (14th Jan) on Bearcroft isn't taking place.
Not wishing to sound like a seasonal Grinch, but we need to put this out due to several incidents on Bearcroft Pool. Please take note, that LURES / SPINNERS / BARBED HOOKS & BRAIDED LINES ARE NOT PERMITTED ON ANY OF OUR POOLS!!
Needless to say we have recently found several large barbed hooks, braided lines and lures around Bearcroft Pool. For the avoidance of doubt none of these are legal on our Pools and ANYONE caught fishing with these will have their cards revoked and banned from the club. Bailiffs may be checking and asking to see rigs in future. Size 10 BARBLESS is the largest hook on Long Lane or Bearcroft Pools. There are no 30lb Specimans in either of the lakes, so really is no need to fish with such tackle!
We also like to remind members to take any rubbish / litter they have home with them DO NOT LEAVE IT on the banks please. We kindly ask you to please repsect the environment, discarded litter, line, hooks etc can cause serious harm to the wildlife not to mention dogs who may walk nearby. We ask kindly for people to take care an attention.
We would like to wish all our club members and their families a very Merry Christmas and a happy new year. Tight lines in 2026!
A heads up for members and advance notice. The club are going to run a match on Long Lane between Christmas and new year, Saturday 27th December fishing from 10am to 3pm. Please book on with Bob or Phil.
The regular monthly Long Lane mid week match took place Wednesday and what a red letter day it was for Phil Bowen. After very cold nights preceeding the match, Phil caught fish after fish, with Carp and Rudd / Roach making up a new match venue record (which was previously 99lb) with a 115lb 11oz! A day that will be long remembered. Well done Phil!
See match results for more info.
There were no price increases on club cards or match fees at the recent A.G.M in November, however there we're rule changes and modifications. Please check rules section of web pages for rule changes, some of the main ones . . .
NO BRAIDED LINES on ANY of the club waters.
IN Matches all nets need to be dry before being placed in pool.
NO FLOATING BAITS ON CLUB WATERS.
NO Spinners or Plugs on Long Lane or Bearcroft Pools.
2025 has been a good year for the club, with a complete contrast from last year being underwater (Long Lane) until late summer, this year the pools have experienced low levels with a fine summer and with that a drought.
The membership numbers have remained strong for 2025, with the club having to sanction another print run of cards mid-year! So, a decent year for new members! What’s been really encouraging is to see a big influx of Junior and Hinstock residents buying the card for Bearcroft Pool. We plan to run some Junior sessions on the pools in 2026 to help and encourage these new members
Water maintenance has continued with funds being made available for the continuing pool work (particularly on Long Lane) and my thanks once again goes out to the guys who have been relentless with their time and efforts to make the place enjoyable to all. Thanks to Phil, Rich, Whippet, Dave Burton, Dave Jones, Andy, Keeno and all the others who have helped us with the work parties. More so this year as I was out of action with Hip replacement surgery!
The match scene continues to be very strong here it at Audco, with several matches a week taking place most of the year and again thanks go out to members who help run these and those Anglers turning up for them and making them enjoyable days out, thanks guys! Well, done to Mick Keene who won the league series this year (with matches to go) and to Mike Ross who was runner up this year. We also have a busy match scene planned for 2026!
Our close relationships with other clubs such as Telford Angling, Hodnet, Lilco, Wyche have helped the club with swap venues for matches, and the interclub matches with Hodnet ran for the second year this year (well done team Audco on clean sweep). Some of our club members are fishing the SUC Sunday matches which Hodnet have put on (members welcome to book on), these matches run weekly from October to March across various stretches of the SUC.
We held a charity match in honour of Gerald Large this summer, which will become an annual Rods only match, raised £50 for Severn hospice in process. Thanks for donations and well done to Rich Cavey who won this year’s match. We also held the MacMillan Pairs match on the Shroppy this year with a good turnout of 10 pairs, this will be re-run on the Shroppy in new year.
As stated, the club have continued with good levels of membership in 2025, retaining many fishermen and selling close to 250 cards for the year. This along with peg fees generated by the various match men and other clubs, enables reinvestment into waters, maintenance and new waters if they become available and is essential to the ongoing running of any sports club.
Audco AC is in a very good position with new Committee members in 2024 (Mick Keene, Andy Woods, Kev Plisbury, Mike Ross) and we welcome a new bailiff on Bearcroft Pool Mr Tim Glews who lives in Hinstock.
It’s been a real team effort from Members (and none members) to make it a successful year the club, much work goes on behind the scenes with likes of Treasurer, club secretary and committee members being dedicated to make it a good club to join and pleasure to be part of.
I’d like to wish all members very best for festive season and tight lines for 2026!
Thank you all
Stuart Miles
Mick Keene took the top spot on the day at Parkers Sunday and also the top spot in the league overall. With a fantastic 11 points! Well done Mick and thanks for all the Anglers who fished it this year and hope to see you back in 2026 for anohter go. See the Series page for more info and match results.
Just a note to members there is a match on the pool this Saturday thats booked after cards were printed. pleasure fishing can still likley fish but expect some match anglers! Draw 9am fish 10am to 3pm.
The club welcomes all new members and are it's very encouraging to see Juniors taking up fishing. It really is great to see so many enthusiastic people fishing the venue. We know many are very new to sport, we have noticed more litter on the banks and would like to remind members of the importance to take any litter home with you please or place it in the blue bin. This is very important as it can cause problems for the wildlife around the pool.
The club are planning to run some Junior matches and fishing guidance sessions in 2026, this will help any newbies in the sport and will be free to attend.
We would also like to point out that allthough no specific rule is in place (Yet) that using Spinners, lures etc should NOT be happening on the pool. There are NO Pike / Zander etc in the venue so we ask please do not use these on ANY of the club waters. There will be some up and coming review of he rules so please check back here for updates. Thanks in advance for your kind co-operation.
The club are delighted to confirm since July we have a new baliff on our team for Bearcroft Pool Hinstock. We welcome Tim Glews a keen club angler from Hinstock and are happy he's agreed to help us with monitoring things on Bearcroft Pool. He lives locally and both Tim and Stuart Miles will be regulars around the pool.
Congratulations to team Audco who won the Away leg v Hodnet AC on Preeswood Pool. An Audco top 3 too, see match results for more infomation.
The club committee agreed unanimously at the montlhy meeting last week (5th June) in the intrests of Fish welfare and bird life on the waters, to extend the ban from Long Lane to ALL club waters. Please respect the rule and take note that this is now in place.
Just a reminder that Lilco AC have a match on Saturday on Long Lane pool (31st May), the draw time is later and they'll be fishing from 11am -4pm. Please no fishing on morning before the match whole pool is closed until after the Match.
