Round 8 saw Dave Matson make up ground on Bob Pritchard with the two neck and neck going into the final 3 Matches. Bob is ahead still but the gap has closed since that last round. Phil Bowen and Gerald Large are tied for joint 3rd and Stuart and Dave Burton on close behind. All to play for in the final 3 matches of the league. Next round (Round 9) is on Parkers Pool Telford on Sunday 1st August then a short break for holidays etc, when the league resumes in September at Apley Pool, with Finale at Long Lane Pool!
See "The Series" page for more info,
iIt's been a good league so far with 6 different winners over the 7 rouunds, Bob Pritchard and Dave Matson are leading the way, but plenty of others in the hunt for a top 4 end placing! All to play for following Round 7 (see Recent Match results)! Round 8 will be on Melverley Farm Laneside on 18th July.
The club have a work party taking place on Monday 5th July from 6pm in evening. If anyone wants to join and help feel free to turn up and lend a hand!
It's a closely contested series so far this season with 6 rounds gone and 6 winners so far! Dave Matson keeps hold of top spot (with 1 worst result dropped) but all to play for going into the second half the campaign. . . .
1) Dave Matson - 14 points
2) Bob Pritchard - 17 points
3) Gerald Large - 18 points
4) Phil Bowen - 19 points
5) Dave Burton - 26 points.
Round 7 on Long Lane 4th July !
For the avoidance of doubt!. . .
Following recent rule breaches at Long Lane Pool, we wish to remind ALL members of some key rules and recent additional rules:
1) NO FIXED FEEDER OR LEADS - Introduced as some fish have been seen tethered to feeders which is of course no good for Fish welfare. We have decided therefore to insist on running feeders / leads.
2) NO PET FOODS OR FLOATING BAITS ON THE POOL - Always been a rule and important for several reasons.
3) NO BOILIES - Again always been a rule on club waters.
4) One Rod only at a time - Always been in the rule book
5) NO BARBED HOOKS ON ANY OF OUR POOLS.
Any one caught breaching these rules will be in danger of having their card and membership revoked.
With five rounds gone and dropping worst one of 5 so far, the league is looking interesting and it's nip & tuck! A close top 4 battle is going on:
1) Dave Matson - 11 points
2) Phil Bowen - 13 points
3) Geral Large - 14 points
4) Bob Pritchard - 15 points.
See Match Results "The Series" for more information
The club are delighted to announce that more fish have been stocked into Bearcroft Pool. We recently added more F1 Carp and Tench too the water, following last years introduction of F1's. Also we will be carrying out maintenance of the pool on Tuesday 8th June, so from mid afternoon expect some disturbance if your Fishing! Tight Lines!
It's a tight league this year with so far a different first place every round, so all to play for! Dave Matson leads the way (without any rounds dropped) but Bob Pritchard, Phil Bowen and Gerald are all closing in and keeping it interesting! Each Angler can drop their worst 3 results so at this point nothing dropped we have a race on! Next Round June 6th at Stirchely Top pool.
To all those fishing the Audco League, the venue has been moved from Marchamley to Stirchely Top Pool in Telford this Sunday (9th May). This is due to not being able to guarantee pegs on Match Lake at Marchamley, so we had no choice but to Switch it. Same fee, same time (rolling draw from 8:40am).
Due to Pandemic last year, many matches we're re-scheduled and this year the Macmillan pairs match takes place the first Saturday of May. The club will be using the Newport club stretch and the Honeysuckle length. See match results for details on weights.
Well done to Ian Jones and Bob Sands who won the pairs for 2nd year in row with 6 points. Dave Matson and Bob were 2nd with 8 points. 12 pairs fished so well done to all that attended.
Special thanks to Bob Pritchard, Phil Bowen, Dave Matson who put event on and carry on Alan Smallmans great work. Also special mention to Gordon Dolan who dontated his winnings to the chairty, the club raised £92 for Macmilan.
The popular Audco Series returns this year following the year out last due to Covid. The 1st round kicks of this coming Sunday with us on Shropshire Union Canal - Honesty Box stretch (bridges 50-51). The same socially distancing rules apply (as per Angling trust and Gov guidlines) so the rolling draw will be done from 8:45am and just 2 members will conduct the weighin. Match will start at 10am and finish at 3pm. All Anglers are booked on, series entry is £25 and then £12 per round thereafter (same as 2019).
With the easing of restricitons, the return of the popular Wednesday matches return this April. The first one up is 7th April on Long Lane Pool. Dave Matson is running these and will be using Long Lane, Marchamley and Melverley Farm, these are normally popular matches and the social distancing draws continue (in-line with Gov and Angling Trust guidlines), so please book on with Dave on 07530 239501.
The annual Audco league is set to be back following last years Covid disruptions, Anglers have allready booked on with us so this year should be a welcome return to match angling. Assuming we get go ahead the first match is due to take place on 11th April, so let's all hope with vaccine roll out we'll be out back soon!
Less than 48 hours after the announcment the Government have confirmed Fishing solo can continue to support mental health and well being during Lockdown 3 See below statment link . . .
The club are still digesting the full information released today 30th December and wait for responses from Angling Trust. However it's expected the pools will remain open for members to fish (solo or with members from same household). Matches will be postponed in short term as with impact of Tier 3 measures.

Well as we know 2020 had been somewhat different, but the Fishing has seen an upturn with beginners and returning anglers. Who perhaps for years had given up. Hopefully all have found relaxation in these troubled times? The Fishing all said has been very good, with Long Lane Pool being very popular with good catches of Silvers and many double figure Carp showing.
The desilting and weed claering of the Newport Canal as resulted in some good mixed bags of Fish, good Bream, Carp and Tench showming.
The Shropshire Union Canal has also fished with some big bags of Bream, Roach even though boats can be disruptive. Bearcroft Pool has had F1's introdcued this year, which have fed well into the Autumn. We are now introducing a quanitity of Common / Mirror Carp and hope the Silvers (which were on hold due to Covid 19) will soon be stocked. We're also looking at adding some Tench to the venue.
Hope you all have a good Christmas, stay safe and tight lines for 2021! - Dave Matson
We all know Christmas won't be the same this year but nevertheless, We'd like to say thanks for your support during 2020 and hope all our members have a good and safe Christmas, let's hope 2021 is a great year!
The clubs last match of the year will hopefully proceed ahead. Once lockdown ends and depending on tiers / governemetn announcements we expect that match fishing is lilkey to return. If anyone wishes to fish the Christmas fayre match then you must book on with Stuart Miles / Bob or Dave Matson please.
We will monitor the situation with the restrictions and abide by these, hopefully the Fur and feather will proceed as usual a rolling draw and soical distancing in place. Watch this space!
The new Lockdown restrictions in England came into force on Thursday 5th November. So from this point until at least December 2nd no groups should be meeting to Fish and all matches are suspended / cancelled during this period. Anglers can meet one more person at fisheries and normal Government guidance should be followed at all times. NO FISHING ON SAME PEGS unless from same household please.
See Angling Trust link for more info
The club won't be holding an AGM in 2020 due to all the lockdown and Covid issues. We will continue to run as are for the time being and will release details and dates in due course. Please use the contact us if you have any suggestions for A.G.M.
Some major maintenance will be carried out on Long Lane Pool on Saturday 24th. The digger and crew will be on-site for the day to complete essential maintenance. We like to thank members for their understanding and it will be open again on the Sunday 25th.
Ian Jones and Bob Sands took the spoils in the re-scheduled MacMillan Charity match on Saturday. Well done guys 6 points to Win the event (See match results for more info).
We have 3 Silver fish matches on the schedule for October / November. Places will be limited to 15 pegs so book on to confirm with Stuart Miles if interested. The matches are not a league just three indiviual matches:

The Annual macmillian Pairs match has now been re-arranged for Saturday September 12th. This event will be held over our length of Newport canal and the Honeysuckle length. Contact Bob Pritchard to book on.
Serck Audco Angling Club would like to thank all members for their patience during the lock-down restrictions and for what has been a smooth return to the waterside. All of the club waters are now open, subject to the guidance from the Angling Trust. Newport Canal is open to members only, we would advise anglers to use the pegs nearest the car park as the pathway is a lot busier than usual. SAAC is a member of the Angling Trust, the governing body of our sport. They have put a lot of hard work in to getting the restrictions eased on Angling, but if there is another spike in infections and anglers are seen to be not following the guidance then the ability to fish may be rescinded. Please adhere to the guidelines and we would like to encourage members to report anyone jeopardising the future of our sport to a committee member. Tight lines and stay safe.
The Angling Trust has now released advice for running matches again, following a thumbs up with restrictions from the Government as of 26th May. Clubs who have bookings with us should proceed if they wish, but please inform us. Our club matches will be re-instated with careful social distancing in place. Numbers will be limited so match anglers should ALWAYS book on during this period.
The club have decided they'll be no Series this summer, but we will instead run matches at venues (where possible) booked as standalone matches. We will review these measures and see how matches go. It should also be noted that the keepnets can now be used (normal rules apply as per card), but remind all memebers to respect the special terms during this time:
No sharing of pegs (unless from same house)
No tackle sharing
Social distancing at all times.
Following the recent update in Covid measures by Government announced on Sunday night. Some sports and outdoor activites will be permitted to resume. This is of course subject to changes at any time as the situation remains fragile and very fluid, it also is subject to water / fishery landlords permission. We have had permission from owners of Long Lane, Bearcroft Pool. These fisheries will be re-opening from 13th May along with the Shropshire Union Canal.
Newport Canal remains closed until further notice, we are awaiting approval and instruction from the council on this. Please note that the Club have had permission for re-opening BUT this is subject to Anglers following rules and Government guidlines, so we ask all members to respect the soical distancing and if you have any symptoms of Covid you must stay away from venues. We are all glad to be able to fish once again, but it's vital that memebers observe the Covid guidlines, use commonsense and stay safe. We'd also like to thank members for the continued support throughout this crisis.
NOTE SOME OF THE CONDITIONS OF RE-OPENING THE VENUES:
1) Abide by Government guidlines and remain minimum 2 meters apart at all times.
2) No Fishing between pegs (this is normal rule anyway!)
3) No Peg sharing (unless memebers of same house hold)
4) Anglers should fish Solitary.
5) We recommend Anglers wash hands and or use Hand Sanitiser (NOT PROVIDED).
6) Open and close gates with gloved handed or as above Sanitise hands once done. DO NOT LEAVE GATES OPEN DUE TO POSSIBLE LIVE-STOCK.
7) NO KEEP NETS.
8) NO MATCH FISHING EVENTS.
9) MEMBERS ONLY NO DAY TICKETS.
10) Please respect the rules and advisories, remember that failure to respect these will result in loss of memebership card and possible venue closures.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THE SHROPSHIRE UNION WATER IS SHARED WITH HODENT AND THEY HAVE ANNOUNCED OPENING FROM 13th MAY WITH RESTRICTIONS PLEASE READ:
We will monitor the situation and if guidlines change will update, so please check back here for future updates. We advise that Anglers follow all Governemnt rules and guides on Covid and Fish safely. We also recommend checking with Angling Trust for more generic information on Fishing, they have produced a doucment relating to these more generic reecommendations:
We live in very surreal and worrying times at present, and following the Angling Trust and Government guide and advisory (see Link for details on this advice)
We can confirm that all Club matches have now cancelled until at least Early May and the club monthly meetings will be cancelled for the next three months. Check back here for more updates, we recommend following the Government guidelines, please stay safe and lets see you all back out once this is all over.
New club cards are out at usual outlets now and venues have been selected for the matches and popular Audco league. A venue change has taken place with the 2nd Round being swapped to Marchamley from The Hough (April 26th). Spaces are limited on the league which will commence on 29th March. There are spaces available still, so those wishing to fish it this year please let a committee member know or contact Stuart (see Series page link from Match Results page).
Also worth a mention is John Buttery memorial Match on Saturday 2nd May and the Alan Smallman McMillan Charity pairs on Saturday 6th June, both worth noting in your diaries.
