Audco Spring Series
This years Long Lane Series has now finished, the final round was contested on Sunday, Stuart Miles sealed the league with another frame placing, to take first overall. The Series new format meant that the pot was shared with 2nd and 3rd places, this was still up for grabs and was between Richard Holdsworth and Tony Pickford, Tony just pipped Richard to second with a second on the day. The final league . . . .
1) Stuart Miles 9 Points
2) Tony Pickford 18 Points
3) Richard Holdsworth 20 Points
4) Ron Mullinder 27 Points
Winner of the 2010 Long Lane Spring Series Stuart Miles
The annual Long Lane league is now drawing to a close, the latest round saw weights improve. Leading the way on the day was Stuart Miles who managed 53lb from Peg 4 and right next door to him, Ron Mullinder weighed 43lb, both weights an improvement for this years matches.
The final round is scheduled for August, the top 3 look like this:
1) Stuart Miles 6 Points
2) Richard Holdsworth 15 Points
3) Tony Pickford with 16 points.
WTA Series Draw Time change!
NOTE: Due to the England World cup game, Sunday's draw time as been brought back 1 hour to 8am. Now fish 9am to 2pm
Work Party Thanks
The club would like to say a huge thanks to all those who took part in the recent Work party at Long Lane pool, it was a well attended event (especially during the week), a good job well done by all (even if some did get wet!!) Dave Jones, Tony Jackson, Bob Pritchard, Richrd Holdsworth, Dave Watkins, & Darren Kelly were all present and carried out some excellent maintance work to the pegs, and surrounding areas, including work to the island and tree clipping.
EA Rod License due
Just a reminder that 2010 rod licenses are now due for renewal, get yours at the local post office or online at the environment agency web site (see links page).
Work Party Help?
If you have any spare time, or are keen to help make the club waters, better places to fish, then maybe you could volunteer for one of the Audco work parties to help carry out essential fishery maintenance, please contact a committee member to register you're support it would be very welcomed by all. There will be a work party soon at Long Lane.
Club AGM
PThe club held its AGM recently, there were no major changes to rules or waters, the club are pleased to confirm that prices for seaon tickets have been held at the same price as last year. The new 2010 membership cards are now available from normal Newport Tackle and other normal tackle outlets.
Longlane Pool
Reports are reaching us that Long Lane pool is back to fishing well in September, the Carp appear to be in much better condition now and appear to be feeding well.
Help is needed!
The Club are seeking helpers for work parties at the Newport Canal, this is to the benefit of all that use the Canal. The Canal needs some urgent tidying, please contact Joan at Newport Tackle for more details Tel 820334.
Bolas Needs You!
The club have started to get some good reports that Bolas Pool has seen improving catches, as the weather warms up, several large Bream have shown with a few Carp also. It's in all our interests to see this Pool develop, so if you fancy bagging a large Slab, then get yourself down to Bolas this Spring!
Please don't forget to tell us, tell Joan at Newport tackle or other committee members! Don't forget to photograph your catch! Then e-mail it to us or give to the committee, we can then place it on our new page Bolas Gallery!! Check out this new page on the site for the first few!
The more bait that goes in at Bolas, the Fish will get used to it and hopefully, we'll all enjoy good catches this summer!! Don't forget the Silver fish too, the pool was stocked with over 12000 fish late last summer, so good bags of Roach & Rudd are also on the table!
